Brighter Tomorrow was written and produced for the same film competition as Discharge. However, this was Michael Dennett's directorial debut. A photographer by trade, Michael wanted to try his hand with moving images. In the editing room, the decision was made that the film would be best if it was longer than the competition allowed.
